Note from Dr Mike: Andrew is a rising star in the fitness, nutrition, and post-rehabilitation world. I knew Andrew was the right candidate for our first Spectrum Residency Program when I met him a few years ago. He emerged as a highly skilled trainer, able to tackle the most challenging cases, bolstered by his experience working with patients and Rob & I at Orthopaedics Plus Physical Therapy. Now, as a nutritionist, he has added to his skills which, in combination with his genuine desire to help and great personality, makes him an incredibly effective fitness coach.
Having played sports all my life, I very quickly realized the role that strength and conditioning played in helping me become a stronger, faster athlete. What I didn’t recognize at the time, however, was just how much I would get back in return from training consistently.
I became more confident. It helped me become more humble. I was building a stronger bond with my teammates who trained alongside me. It helped with my time management, as it was now a priority. I even found myself becoming more proactive with everyday tasks. I became a student to everything related to training, nutrition, and overall wellness. I felt great and I wanted to share this feeling with everyone I came in contact with.
It was only when I took a good step back and looked around when I realized that most of us are just walking through life as a ticking time bomb: unhappy, over-stressed and physically and mentally out of shape. This is the moment when I knew that this is what I wanted to do: help others improve their overall level of fitness, function, mobility, habits, self-confidence and general outlook on life.
Shortly after graduating from Salem State University in 2013, I became certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I also hold certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and as a Certified Sports Nutritionist through the International Society of Sports Nutrition (CISSN).
I’ve been with Spectrum for over 2 years now. I was the first to graduate from the Spectrum Residency Program. What I’ve learned from the whole team since beginning here (Orthopaedics Plus included) has been invaluable. We push each other every day to be better for ourselves and our clients, all while having FUN! I strongly believe in a positive, supporting atmosphere in which everyone benefits. As the old saying goes, “A rising tide raises all ships.” I look forward to helping you raise your ship and meet your goals!
