Hi there!
I’m Laura and I’m the newest employee to join the Spectrum team with the honor of opening up the new Bedford location alongside Mike (and my husband Justin).
I’ve been a personal trainer for almost a decade now and it’s hard to imagine doing anything else. As a kid, I never knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I always liked working out and had an affinity for science. With the guidance of a trusted college professor, I chose to get my degree in Kinesiology.
After graduating, I was lucky enough to land an internship with a great company that later hired me as a full time personal trainer. I trained full time for over 3 years when my company was sold and it was time to make a change. After discovering (somewhat accidentally) that I might be good in management, I decided to take the jump and got an assistant director role at a club called Healthworks in Boston. I later became the director and worked for HW for almost 5 years. During my time there, I was able to train, teach, lead, and manage a business. All of this experience was invaluable as a fitness professional and business leader.
Over the years, I’ve done work that I feel incredibly proud of because I know the impact fitness can have on people’s lives. I feel extremely passionate about showing people (especially women) how to strength train and feel their strongest. My clients will tell you my taglines are either: “You’re stronger than you think you are,” or “I wouldn’t make you do it if it wasn’t good for you.” The confidence that you gain when you pick something up that you didn’t think you could pull, push something that you didn’t think you could budge, or lift something overhead with ease, percolates into every aspect of life. I want you to leave the gym feeling like there’s truly nothing you can’t handle.
As for the boring stuff: I received my degree from UMass Amherst, I’m a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), I am a pre/post natal exercise specialist, and a Precision Nutrition Coach. I have additional training in powerlifting, kettlebells, corrective exercise, and assisted stretching. For fun, I like reading on my couch while wearing exorbitant robes, and forcing my dog to cuddle with me.
I am very excited to start this journey to empowering fitness and newfound confidence with you. Are you ready?
