“I am the healthiest I have been in a very long time, and I have Spectrum Fitness and it’s professional staff to thank for getting me back on the right track. I am 38, have 4 young children, work full time and have little time to devote to myself so, “fitness” got put on the back burner for a while.
In the past, I have tried to eat healthy and fit in exercise when I could, but we all know that it is easy to get caught up in a cycle of; eating the leftover food from the kids plates, choosing laundry and chores over going out and exercising, being just too plain tired to do anything except the everyday functions of work and family life. Whenever I would start an exercise program it took up too much time and I would either gain the weight back or simply stop the routine after a while.
Over the years I have researched and tried many of the new, “fad” diets that come out on a regular basis, I have also tried different workout programs and joined gyms. Most of that resulted in frustration and kept me with the, “extra weight” that I couldn’t seem to shed. My mother told me about a seminar given by Michael Stare that addressed everything I have had frustration with in the past…myths about weight loss, fad diets, time constraints…After hearing what he had to say, I signed up the next week. I was curious and it seemed too good to be true. I had appointments with professional trainers that worked with my specific abilities and I saw changes almost immediately. I learned that “workouts” don’t have to consume your entire morning, night or afternoon.
They taught me that I can use my body weight for strength training and not have to go out and buy expensive equipment or join a gym, I can get in a full workout in my own living room or yard all within a half hour. I learned that ten minutes of high intensity interval training burns more fat over a longer period of time than a 45 minute run at moderate pace, what a time saver! One of the trainers even gave me a tip on how I could utilize my children’s swing set for part of my strength training. I won’t say participating in my appointments didn’t take hard work and dedication on my part, but being guided by the trainers made it so much easier to get motivated.
Recently, I was able to travel to Wyoming and hike up to 10, 000 feet without feeling tired! Since then, I have been continuing with my workouts and high intensity training. I have lost 15 pounds, gained muscle tone and I look as fit as I did before I had children in my mid 20’s. I can keep up with my children and have made a promise to myself to keep on track with my health and fitness. The most important aspect of all is that I feel energized, healthy and strong. Thanks.”
