When it comes to the best exercises, I think one stands above the rest as the king of all exercises:
Unfortunately, many don’t do pushups because they are too hard, and some don’t do them because they are too easy. Several struggle to do them with proper technique.
I’m going to address all of these issues today.
First, let me explain why I think Pushups are the best exercise. There are many reasons which I get into on my blog, but consider the following most important ones:
1. You can help veterans. By doing pushups or supporting someone who participates in Pushup For Charity, you can help those who served our country get the support they need as they return from serving our country. several years ago, I was one of a few fitness professionals who started Pushups for Charity, and now it is a national event.
The goal is to have our team perform as many pushups as possible in 90 seconds. donors pledge a certain amount per pushups, or simply give a flat donation. The event takes place on June 25th at 10 am at Spectrum Fitness Consulting.
2. It can be done anywhere. Compliance is the name of the game in long term exercise results, and since they can be done anywhere, pushups are as much as an excuse free exercise as there is. If you have a floor, or some furniture, you can do pushups.
3. They work your entire upper body: In one exercise, you can work your scapula stabilizers, chest, shoulders, triceps, paravertebrals, and your abdominal muscles. Because of the number of muscle involved, it is a very efficient exercise and is a cornerstone of many of the programs we write.
Think you are too weak for pushups? You’ll see how you can modify the exercise to suit your levels.
Are you a fitness buff who skips pushups because you can do dozens, maybe hundreds, and they aren’t a challenge? You’ll see some examples of how you can progress to advanced pushups that challenge even the strongest athletes.
Not sure if you are doing them correct? Poor technique with pushups is common, but I’ll break down the technique and show you how to do it properly.
